With the icy conditions we currently have, there are a few intersections I try to avoid when I can. Here's where and why.

This street parallel to Nob Hill (heading towards Tieton) is accident prone when roads are icy or not. The reason being is so many people blow through the stop sign anyways so when roads are icy sometimes they may not be able to stop in time, sliding right through the stop sign.

I've had beef with this intersection for various reasons. It's kind of busy all the time, but usually not too bad. The issue is that it's a flashing red light any time of day so you get people waiting to take their turn. When roads are icy the car may stall longer than it should so the other person may take that as a sign to go ahead.

1st and Nob Hill

Statistically, this is the most dangerous intersection in Yakima. This time of year it makes it even worse when you're heading east on Nob Hill because you may be driving down from the overpass. If the roads are too slick you may slide into the car in front of you. Never a good thing.

16th and Nob Hill

This is bad news because you also have the YVCC students going from class to class or heading across the street to grab lunch. It's not the cars you need to watch out for, it's the people.

72nd and Summitview

This is a terrible intersection mostly because you have very limited visibility. Watch for those cars going up the hill because you may not see them until it's too late.

Fortunately, most major intersections in Yakima aren't too bad if you're used to driving the conditions, but these are ones I try to avoid if at all possible. If we left something out, put it in the comments!
