The Disney Princesses: Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Mulan and, most recently, Tiana and Rapunzel. They have everything they want. The prince of their dreams, a castle to live in and a romantic ending to live happily ever after. But have you noticed that half of them don't have a mother figure in their life? With the help of our sleuth detectives and a keen eye on each movie we're going to track down each of the other Disney Princess's mothers.

    Ariel

    The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid had King Triton as her father as did several other mermaids in that area. In fact, being that King Triton's several daughters all looked different my guess is that it was from several different mothers. There are plenty of fish in the sea and being a king I'm sure he had his pick. I'd place bets that Ursula, the sea witch, was Ariel's mother. Why do you think Ursula wants her so bad? She wants her baby back. Being that Ursula can whip up just about any concoction, I'm guessing King Triton needed an embarrassing ointment so we went to Ursula and used his company as a form of payment. Not his proudest moment, I'm sure. Besides, you can never under-estimate the power of body language.

    Belle

    Beauty and the Beast

Belle's father was "Crazy Old Maurice." As crazy people tend to attract one another, I'm sure Belle's biological mother was crazy, too. That being said there's no doubt in my mind that Belle's mother has to be the one who sings "I need six eggs" during the opening market scene. You can clearly see her clutching Belle's brothers and sisters in that scene. There was a moment when they realized Belle was definitely level headed so they separated and decided Belle was to stay with Maurice to keep him out of trouble from the townsfolk. I still haven't figured out why she needed six eggs. You can tell by the tone of her frantic voice that she clearly needed them for something. Not sure if she was making enough crepes to feed the neighborhood or perhaps she's baking two cakes? We'll never know for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVovQfq7U0w&feature=player_detailpage#t=88s

    Jasmine

    Aladdin

Jasmine's father didn't even have a name in Aladdin. He was just referred to as "The Sultan" which isn't much to go on. With a careful eye, though, you can see her mother in the crowd scooping up Arabian coins during the Prince Ali song. Unfortunately for her mom she's not allowed beyond palace walls. Too bad The Sultan is spending all of his money on his toys rather than alimony, Jasmine's mom has a dental problem that should be attended to. It's too bad, too. But, you gotta do what you gotta do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM5VGfiSd3s&feature=player_detailpage#t=120s

    Cinderella

    Cinderella

Now, to be fair, Cinderella did have a mother. As the story goes, she died and then her father remarried who would become her wicked step-mother. Fortunately, her mother came back in the form of her fairy godmother. This way her mom can keep a close eye on her. Just like all of our moms she can make everything better with the wave of her magic wand. Still not sure about the talking mice but if you were locked up in your house you'd be talking to mice, too.

    Snow White

    Snow White

Unfortunately there aren't any other females in this story. There's the prince, the huntsman, the 7 dwarves and a bunch of animals. Through process of elimination, Snow White's mom has to be the old witch that didn't know the apple was poisoned. That's the problem with alzheimer's. The witch started out hating on her but after her spell to revert her to her original state as the old lady she wanted to see her daughter again. That's why she brought her an apple. Not just any apple, too. Easily a honeycrisp. Too bad it was poisoned. They never had the reunion as they both should've had.
