A ‘How to Clean Your Microwave’ Tip That Actually Works

I have the world's worst microwave. I have no actual proof, but it does look like an oatmeal and chili monster threw up all over the base, walls and even the ceiling of my microwave. I actually considered tossing it out and getting a new one, but I saw this easy video and decided to give it a shot. I wish I knew it would've worked to show before and after photos so, instead, I'll share the video I saw.

Basically, use equal parts water and vinegar -- one cup of each should do it. Put them in a microwave-safe bowl with a wooden stick (I used a disposable chopstick) and heat it for five minutes. Afterward, let it stand for 10 minutes to give the gunk in your microwave a nice sauna.

Once 10 minutes have passed, use a sponge and it'll come off like nothin!
