John Riggs was born and raised in Yakima. He moved away from Washington state for about 10 years, but moved back home, bringing along his wife and three kids. You'll find John in town snapping photos when he's covering new business openings, especially restaurants. He loves to help spread the word, and to encourage folks to shop local first. John also loves to travel, always looking for quick weekend getaways, attending events, and fan expos around the country. Don't be too shy to say, "Hi!"

We Need these Street Defibrillators in WA, OR, CA
I found myself in Nottingham earlier this year. No, I wasn't looking for the sheriff but was there for a video game award show.
As I was walking down one of the many streets I saw this on the side of a building. I thought it was so cool I had to take a photo...
The Best Bread Pudding in the World isn’t in England or the South, but in Yakima, WA
Bread Pudding is one of those dessert options that had be confused as a kid.
"...so, it's pudding made from bread?"
No, not exactly. Well, Yes, but still.
It originated in England where 'pudding' is the same as saying 'dessert' so saying bread pudding implies it's a dessert of some sort made from bread...
I Ordered the Most Expensive Dish at Yakima Steak Company
Yakima has some of the best restaurants in all of Washington State. When it comes to 'farm-to-fork' we grow all the produce, we raise all the cattle, we brew our own beer, we have our own vineyards -- there's no reason to go to New York or even Paris for great food...

Pickleball, if you're not familiar, is a little like tennis or ping-pong. Not as fast or as 'hard core' as tennis but also not as precise as ping-pong...
Yakima’s Coldest Days are Behind Us with Warmer Weather in the Future
We've been in this transitional time where some days may be warmer than others and sometimes you might find frost on your windshield or your lawn. Though we still may have a couple of frosty mornings between now and whenever, looking at the weather forecast in the future, we're going to be on the slow rise through the 50s and even into the 60s in a couple weeks...

It's about time! Looks like Washington State is finally getting an In-N-Out Burgers and it's not in Seattle.
7 of the Top 10 Most Expensive Restaurants are All in California
There was a reason people follow celebrity gossip or are infatuated with shows like the old 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous'. One can live vicariously through them to see the big house they have with the huge yard and a collection of nice cars...
