In recent years, the hop industry has really taken off on a local level. I mean, we've always had a huge hop industry as the Yakima Valley accounts for 75 percent of the U.S. hop crop, but it's gained a much higher local profile with new breweries like Yakima Craft and Bale Breaker popping up.

Gamers Raised $5.1 Million During Extra Life Gaming Marathon

This past weekend was the Extra Life video game marathon.

It gave gamers a chance to play video games for 24 hours straight, requesting donations for the good of the cause. Players chose the local children's charity of their choice and started playing. This year, the national total came to $5,102,500.90!

‘Portland Retro Gaming Expo’ Breathes New Life to Old Video Games

If there's enough of a fanbase, there's a convention for it out there. Comic book fans have Comic Cons. Coffee lovers have Coffee Fest and just about anything else you can think of. There's even a 'Hello Kitty Con' in LA. Video games are no exception as they're a multi-billion dollar industry. Over the weekend, I attended the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in Portland Oregon. It's a great way to showcase the roots of video gaming from where it began to where it's going.
