Fair Highlights: Wednesday, Sept. 24
Rain? Who cares? Won't slow us down today.
Besides, if it gets too bad, we can always go indoors. We might start there, anyway -- hot cup of coffee (with a lid!) and a stroll through the fabric and fashion displays in the Modern Living Building sound pretty good this afternoon...
The 3D Effect [VIDEO]
Scared of the dark? Fine.
But at Terror on the Ave, what you can see might be even scarier than what you can't see.
When you pull on a pair of 3D glasses, a world of untold horror will make itself known.
Worse yet, it'll be close...
Fair Highlights: Tuesday, Sept. 23
Let's class it up a little today, what do you say?
First stop -- after grabbing a quick cup of Americano to go -- is some fine arts displays, upstairs and in the annex of the Ag Building. Local painters, carvers ... nice.
THEN we'll hit the racing pigs again...
Fair Highlights: Monday, Sept. 22
Yeah, yeah. We probably should be at work or school or in court or whatever -- but NOT TODAY!
We're hitting the Central Washington State Fair again because, among other things, it's Franz Bread Day. Which means, if you bring in an empty Franz sack with a sticker and pay 23 bucks at the gate, you get unlimited carnival rides today...
Fair Highlights: Sunday, Sept. 21 [VIDEO]
When they open the gates at 11 a.m., the first thing on our mind is ... no! We're not eating like that again today. But we DO intend to sample some craft beers.
It's Central Washington University Day at the fair, so maybe we'll celebrate by stopping by the Ag Building at 1 p...
Fair Highlights: Saturday, Sept. 20
All right, so we've worked out the kinks and everybody's still got George Thorogood songs running through their head after his Friday night.
What's up for today?
Well for starters, there's the Sunfair Parade, which starts at 10 a.m...
A Peek at the Progress: Terror on the Ave Is Creeping This Way
Feel that chill?
It's Terror on the Ave ... headed this way in about two weeks.
And work is continuing at the old Schultz Furniture store at Fifth and Yakima avenues as the crew prepares an ominous-looking web of halls and walls that'll mark the route when the first brave souls set foot in the place on Oct...
Watching the World Go By in Naches
We love carnival rides, right? Pretty much all of them.
They're even kind of interesting to watch, we discovered during Sportsman's Days in Naches this weekend.
Terror on the Ave is Coming Closer — Opening is Oct. 3
Oct. 3 is drawing nearer, which puts a little chill in the air -- and adds some urgency among the crew building the set of this year's Terror on the Ave.
They're working hard to get everything done in time for the haunt's opening, which is now less than a month away...
We Love Purple — Especially During This Month’s Purple Purse Challenge
You know us, we love purple. Just look at our KFFM logo!
But this month, we have even more reason to love our favorite color: We're taking part in the YWCA of Yakima's Purple Purse Challenge, a national fundraising effort that benefits
efforts to help women who've survived domestic abuse rebuild their lives and learn to live on their own...
We’re Looking for Volunteers for This Year’s Terror on the Ave
Would you like to help us haunt the Yakima Valley this Halloween?
As we get ready to open this year's Terror on the Ave, we need volunteers 16 and older for scaring, security, animatronics, guest services and more.
The haunt runs from Oct...

If you're on track, your back-to-school lists are nearly completed by now.
