Summer is coming up and it's time to get out and do something. One way to keep Yakima alive is to support local music. I come from a musical family so any way we can support local shows is great - especially when they're free. Here are some of the best free summer concerts in Yakima.

Downtown Summer Nights

Off the corner of 4th street and Yakima avenue.
Every Thursday throughout summer is a downtown block party aptly named Downtown Summer Nights. It's your standard fair of food booths, beer garden and, of course, you can't have a block party without live music. There's a new band each week so every Thursday you'll be treated to live, free entertainment at Downtown Summer Nights on 4th street in Yakima.

Bite of Yakima

Yakima Arboretum
June 29th will host Yakima's 'Bite of Yakima' which features food samples from all of the best places in Yakima. It also has a stage featuring live music from some of Yakima's most talented musicians. Should be a blast. Check it out on Facebook.

Mark Wills at the 4th of July Celebration

State Fair Park on July 4th
Coincidentally enough, the only Thursday that Downtown Summer Nights isn't happening is on the 4th of July. On that day, instead, hit up the fairgrounds for Yakima's 4th of July Celebration. Country superstar Mark Wills will be the live act on stage with a free concert. Not too shabby! Not every day there's a big-time musician in any town offering you a free concert!

Moxee Park on August 2nd and 3rd
Celebrating years and years of tradition, the Moxee Hop Festival is always a fun event to attend. Fun activities for the kids, vendors and there's always a stage and that stage always has some form of free concert. Whether it's a local band or karaoke or a mariachi band, Moxee Hop Festival is one two-day free concert.

We'll have more free concerts to be announced as they come through. If you hear of any, put them in the comments below!
