Lady Gaga made her fair share of enemies last week when she performed in a wheelchair during a concert in Sydney, Australia.

Now, she appears to have ticked off Bette Midler as well. Over the weekend, the Divine Miss M sent a number of hostile tweets at Gaga, accusing the ‘Born This Way’ singer of stealing her act.

“I’m not sure @ladygaga knows that I’ve performed my mermaid in a wheelchair for millions of people — and many of them are still alive…..” she tweeted Friday.

Midler followed with a series of tweets on Saturday, saying, “Dear @ladygaga if you think a mermaid in a wheelchair seems familiar-it’s because it is!You can see it on youtube 24/7-with ME performing it … Ive been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980-You can keep the meat dress and the firecracker.”

Whether or not Midler was serious is yet to be determined, though, judging by her latest Tweet, she appears to be taking everything in stride.

“Let’s drink this over at the Emmys in September. Fabulous mermaids can coexist!” she tweeted Sunday.

Midler and Gaga both received Emmy nominations this year in the category of Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, for ‘The Showgirl Must Go On’ and ‘Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden,’ respectively.
