Did Bobby Brown Already Leave Whitney Houston’s Funeral?
First Aretha Franklin couldn’t make it to Whitney Houston‘s funeral. Now TMZ reports that Bobby Brown made it to the memorial — but left already.Brown reportedly exited the church shortly after the ceremony began. At this time, it is unclear whether Brown left on his own accord or if he was asked to leave.
Rev. Al Sharpton tweeted during the funeral, “I am at Whitney’s funeral. I spoke with Bobby Brown trying to calm him down and not distract from the services. Today is about Whitney!” It’s unclear whether he was calming Brown down from his grief, which we can only imagine to be unbearable, or from something else.
Despite reports of opposition from Houston’s family, Brown and his camp denied that he was banned from the funeral. A Houston family member confirmed that Brown was indeed invited to the private funeral with daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.
While they may not have been against him attending the funeral, reports suggest that Houston’s family do not want him getting anywhere near the late singer’s estate. TMZ reported that family members believe Brown is broke and thus trying to be on his daughter’s good side in hopes of grasping some cash. We’re inclined to believe Brown is merely heartbroken and trying his best to grieve the love of his life while supporting a daughter who clearly has issues of her own.
Our thoughts are with Brown and the rest of Houston’s family and friends during this tragic time.
UPDATE: The Star-Ledger reports that Brown left the funeral because his entourage of nine was not allowed in the church. He was not asked to leave, but left with the group on his own will, with sources saying he was “visibly upset.”
