The music world has lost another legend just days after Casey Kasem's passing. Soul singer Bobby Womack passed away earlier today of unknown causes. He was 70 years old.

A representative for Womack's label, XL Recordings, confirmed his death to Rolling Stone.

Womack was a renowned soul legend who created music for seven decades. Despite his health issues, including the early stages of the Alzheimer's disease and a successful battle with colon cancer, he was making a comeback. Womack was working on his 28th album, 'The Best Is Yet to Come,' before his death. The last album he released was 2012's 'The Bravest Man in the Universe.'

The Cleveland native's lasting legacy isn't just his longevity in the music industry. His natural talent shined through his distinctive voice and the passion with which he sang. From the grandiosity of 'Across 110th Street' to his ecstatic howl on Gorillaz's 'Stylo' to classics like 'If You Think You're Lonely Now,' the singer represented the soul genre like no other.
