Grandview Teen Organizes Massive WE Event Today At Yakima Valley SunDome

The WE movement has begun locally, and local Grandview High School senior Alondra Perez has organized a huge event for 3,000 students at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The event kicks off today (Nov. 15) at 9 a.m. and goes until noon. It will feature speakers and entertainment, and students will be bused in from area schools as far as away as Cle Elum and Prosser.

The Distraction of Taking High-Pressure Tests in School

I recently attended an open house as my daughter's school when she showed me the test they all take for something about Smarter Balanced Assessments. Basically, it's a series of tests to ensure that the student is at or above grade level in their learning. What it showed me was if a child was capable of taking a high-pressure test with others in the same room. I don't think I could've taken this.
