Celine Dion Meets Creator of ‘All by Myself’ Parody Video
When Celine Dion superfan Richard Dunn recorded his ‘All by Myself’ parody video one lonely night at the Las Vegas McCarran Airport, he probably would’ve never expected that it would become a viral sensation. Even further from his mind would be that Celine Dion herself would see — and love — the video herself.
But that’s exactly what happened, and according to the Las Vegas Sun, Dion finally met Dunn during the 4th of July weekend, backstage after one of her shows at Caesar’s Palace.
Dunn, a video engineer from Atlanta, Ga., was flying back to Georgia from Las Vegas when he decided to give up his seat in exchange for free flight vouchers. He ended up staying overnight at the airport and with the help of his iPhone, some tape, a wheelchair and his own luggage, he recorded the incredible video of himself lip-syncing the lyrics to Dion’s 1996 cover of the Eric Carmen hit.
After the video went viral, with almost 13 million views to date, Dion herself recorded a message inviting Dunn back to see her at Caesar’s Palace.
This time, however, Dunn did not travel alone and brought his family and friends with him.
Dunn told the Las Vegas Sun, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime memory I never thought would happen but will last forever.”
