No girl should go without sustainable feminine hygiene.

In many countries, girls are humiliated during that "time of the month," and others are shunned by families and communities because of their periods.

Days For Girls International aims to help out these women and girls by providing little kits to help them have some semblance of dignity during their monthly menstrual cycles.

Yakima, here's how you can personally make a difference in providing sustainable feminine hygiene for 100,000-plus women and girls in the Yakima community and all across the globe in over 75 nations:

Join the local event where volunteers will be sewing shields for feminine products, or you can bring supplies and materials needed to make the bags for donations. Volunteers will be sewing panty liner shields and bags for girls to use in six continents.

What to bring:
Donate any of the following items:
Funds
Fabric (Cotton flannel/Quilter's Cotton)
Thread (durable polyester)
Girls undergarments (sizes 10/12/14/16)
Washcloths
Gallon Ziploc Freezer Bags

Sewing kit elements:
Shields, Liners, or bags
