‘Death By Selfie Stick’ — Lightning Claims Another Hapless Hiker

The selfie stick is turning out to be one of the worst inventions since the automatic toilet seat lifter. And now, it's perhaps one of the deadliest.

On two recent occasions, hikers in the Brecon Beacons mountain range in Powys, Wales, used selfie sticks during lighting storms and both were struck and killed by bolts of electricity as a result. The devices have metal in them, so of course they attract lighting.

One of the unfortunate gentlemen actually did it as an experiment to prove selfie sticks can be used as lighting rods. Really? That man will be up for a posthumous Darwin award I am sure.
