When it comes to food at the state fair, there’s one abiding rule that all vendors must adhere to: If you fry it, they will come. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Iowa State Fair’s life size butter cow, Larry Fyfe is offering up a fitting fair treat treat — deep fried butter on a stick.

To make the messy confection, Fyfe coats an eighth-of-a-pound slab of butter in a cinnamon honey batter, then deep fries it for three minutes until it’s golden brown and melted in the center. As if that weren’t enough, the butter, which resembles a corn dog at this point, is finished with a sugary glaze.
