Frenemies Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato may have just taken a huge step forward in repairing their relationship.

In 2014, Lovato confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she and her fellow former Disney Channel weren't a part of each other's lives any longer ("I don't have anything in common with her anymore," Lovato said). But in a new interview with The Hollywood ReporterLovato said Miley's recent announcement that she's given up marijuana has elicited a sense of pride.

"I am really proud of Miley," Lovato, who has been sober for five years, said. "I think that it helps people to know that there are people in the spotlight that have challenges, that are faced with very stressful lives. I think it helps to know that recovery is possible and it’s something that is so important to certain people like myself."

Cyrus confirmed in a May 4 Billboard story that she decided to give up smoking as a means to reach clarity. Partying had left her out of sorts and creatively stunted, she said.

“I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open," she said. "And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be.”
