If you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of songs, desperate to know which tracks and videos deserve your attention, consider this your life preserver: Below, discover the best songs #NewMusicFriday has to offer.

“Anger Is an Acid,” Talullah Ruff
New York City-based artist Talullah Ruff is entrancing on "Anger Is an Acid," a slice of post-Courtney Love, post-Fiona Apple alt-rock that sounds like it was plucked straight from the mid '90s. Gloomy, jazzy production colors the track blue, while the singer-songwriter's emotive, full-bodied vocal oozes all over the song like a fog rolling in. "One day my anger will be mine to give / And no longer yours to take," Talullah promises, her smooth delivery transforming into a dramatic snarl towards the end.

“Take Me,” Aly & AJ
Former Disney pop princesses and Insomniatic stars Aly & AJ make their triumphant return with "Take Me," a sweet slice of '80s pop that wouldn't sound out of place on a Tiffany album—or Carly Rae Jepsen's EMOTION, for that matter. The sisters' sugary vocals glide over a soundscape of billowing synths and electronic beats that sound like meteorites breaking through the atmosphere. Its the kind of big, joyful pop song that plays during the credits of a rom-com, the kind that gets stuck in your head for days.

“U,” sergioisdead Ft. MERGES
New York City-based producer sergioisdead teams up with emerging electro-pop artist MERGES on "U," a glossy, intoxicating mid-tempo synth-R&B song about being caught up in an obsession. The video, directed by Stephen Michael Simon (Selena Gomez's "It Ain't Me"), plays with themes of restraint and feeling captured, all overlaid by a dreamy, unsettling bubblegum hue.

"Water Me," Lizzo
Lizzo is empowering and bold as ever on "Water Me," a frenetic, funky fusion of EDM, rap, rock, hip hop and disco that will undoubtedly get caught between your ears moments in. "I don't get dehydrated / I moisturize it daily," she sings over a slamming beat and flurry of skittering guitars, a gospel chorus exploding in the background.

“Future Me,” Echosmith
Alt-pop trio Echosmith make magic once more on "Future Me," a dreamy, synthy ode to making mistakes and embracing your past. "There's gonna be some pain / It's good to feel something," singer Sydney Sierota sings in her calm, optimistic tone, while the uplifting music video features several of her real-life family members.
