A commercial during the MTV Video Music Awards featured a sample of Eminem's new single. The clip offered a listen of a throwback, rock-rap sound, and last night (Aug. 26) fans got the track in full. 'Berzerk,' the rapper's first single off his upcoming 'Marshall Mathers LP 2,' has arrived.

"Now this s---'s about to kick off, this party looks wack / Let's take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch," Eminem raps, beginning the song.

He does just that. The throwback, Beastie Boys-feel on 'Berzerk' is produced by Rick Rubin, who is an executive producer on Em's new album along with Dr. Dre. Rubin also produced the Beastie Boys' landmark debut, 'Licensed to Ill,' and has recently found work helping finish Kanye West's 'Yeezus'

The track features a sample of Billy Squier's 'The Stroke,' multiple scratching and Eminem making multiple old school references while throwing in bits of braggadocio.

"The art of the MCing mixed with da Vinci and MC Ren / And I don't mean Stimpy's friend bitch / Been public enemy since you thought PE was gym, bitch," Eminem raps, referencing the famed artist, the N.W.A. rapper, the well-known Nickelodeon cartoon show and Public Enemy.

Stat Quo, who's worked with Eminem, tells HipHopDX that the 'Marshall Mathers LP 2' will feature more of the Beastie Boys' style. "A lot of the rap right now is not in direction, where it’s very hard and s--- with guitars," he says. "I think Em probably went that way because his typical style is that if everybody’s going right, he’s gonna go left. I definitely feel like it’s going to follow that Beastie Boys motif. I think it’s going to feel like a Beastie Boys record.”

'Marshall Mathers LP 2' will drop on Nov. 5.
