There are two things I'm very passionate about: my kids and my video games. Extra Life combines both of those into a great cause. It gives me a chance to play video games for 24 hours straight and, through fundraising, it helps the kids in Yakima through the Memorial Foundation, which benefits Children's Village, pediatrics at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and more!

It's kind of like when we were growing up, we had book-reading drives where you get people to donate $1 for each book they read and that money would go to a cause or organization. I think it was our school's booster club when I was growing up. This is like that. They figure $1 per hour, so round it to $25 per person and I'll do my best to play video games for 24 hours straight starting on Saturday, October 25. I know, "Twist my arm," right?

This even takes place globally and not at any specific location. Since I'll still be helping my wife on the home front, I'll be casually playing games at home. With my kids during the day and by myself at night. Some places do meet-ups or move from house to house. Now, thanks to technology, many people participate in Extra Life online via Twitch and other streaming channels. All for fun and all for a good cause.

I'm even more attached to this as I have two children with autism. One is high functioning and one is low functioning, so we take advantage of our local sources like Children's Hospital regularly.

If you'd like to donate to this cause, you can click the link below. Better yet, if you want to join Extra Life Yakima, please do! It's open invitation so you're more than welcome to join our team!

The official kick-off for the Extra Life gaming marathon is Saturday, October 25th, but any day that works for you is fine, too.

I found this footage of when I took video of my Extra Life gaming a couple of years ago. I'll get footage this year, too.
