Holly Dixon-Almond wasn't sure why her family was so insistent that she get down to the mall right away Tuesday afternoon.

But when she caught sight of her sister Justine Dixon, who'd driven all the way from Tacoma after nominating Holly for a Five Days of Giving award -- and then the whole KFFM 107.3 crew, which arrived with a bagful of prizes and gift certificates -- it all began to sink in.

Hugs and a few tears followed as Holly, Justine and their mother and grandmother stood in the middle of the Valley Mall while 107.3's Nahum Ray, Reesha on the Radio and John Riggs presented the gifts and the station's best holiday wishes.

Here's Holly as she finds out what's going on:

And here's what Justine wrote in nominating her younger sister:

I wish to nominate Holly Dixon-Almond; my sister.

My reasoning behind this isn't simply because she is my sister and I love her dearly, but because she works so hard as a single mother of my beautiful 2-year-old niece.

Holly has risen above many obstacles in her short 21 years. She has worked hard to obtain every single thing she and my niece have. She would never ask for help and would will surely be surprised that I even nominated her. But in the end she deserves it; she deserves a little extra this year.

I do realize that there are many single mothers working hard to make this Christmas an amazing one for their little ones and I applaud each and every one of them; I used to be one. I see how hard my sister struggles and how she will go without to make sure my niece gets all she needs. It would not only be amazing for her but for me as well to see a little weight removed from her shoulders.

My nomination is Holly Dixon-Almond, a strong woman and incredible mother who lights up a room simply by being herself, being the best she can be and overcoming so much in such a short time.

There's still a little more time to nominate someone for our Five Days of Giving contest. Just fill out this form on our website and explain why someone you know deserves a little extra Christmas this year. We'll be awarding gifts the rest of this week.
