I love hitting up yard sales whenever I can, but even I have boundaries to my cheapness. Here are five things I wouldn't consider buying at a yard sale.

Cloth Chairs/Couches
These are a lice-lover's dream. Ticks and other small insects can climb in between the fibers and live in your couch or chair for years. Gross!

Food
For the most part, because I don't know how it was stored or when it may expire. Unless it's something collectible like an old box of Wheaties or old Coke bottles that aren't meant to be consumed, I'm out.

Socks/Underwear
Do I even need an explanation? Gross!

Old, Dusty Vases
I don't collect stuff like that so I'd have no use for it, but even if I did, I don't know how long they've been caked with dust. I'll pass.

Hair supplies
Although my bald head doesn't have to worry about stuff like that anymore, I'm thinking for my kid's sake. The idea of brushing my daughter's hair with a brush that didn't come straight from the packaging makes me a bit uneasy.

What are some things that, no matter the deal, you just won't buy? Tell us in the comments below.

Don’t forget about Yakima’s Biggest Yard Sale coming May 9 at the Perry Tech parking lot at 8 a.m. No doubt you’ll find some great stuff there!
