When 60-year-old Ron Knowlton was struck and killed riding his bicycle earlier this month, he left behind a wife with a huge burden: Pam Knowlton is caring for the family's three special-needs children, and without her husband's paycheck, she's in dire financial straits.
A 24-year-old Yakima woman is facing charges in the accident, but that's little consolation to the Knowltons, who live near the spot where Ron was killed -- right across the street from Hoover Elementary -- and are forced to see the scene of the tragedy ever day.
Pam is struggling to care for she and Ron's son, Matthew, who is autistic, and their twin daughters, Angela and Christina, who have special needs that are the result of birth complications. None of the three is able to live independently.
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page for the family, and they're asking the community's support. Money raised would at least help pay for Ron's funeral, which was held Feb. 13.
Pam is the sole manager of the account.
