Getting Yaklimated: Baby Joel Tries Waffles Caffe for the First Time

In an effort to get the newest member of the 107.3 family, Baby Joel, acclimated to Yakima (or Yaklimated) I thought it'd be best to take him around town and show him some unique spots we have that you won't find anywhere else. When I told him we had a place where you could get a waffle with almost anything on it, including ice cream, he was down to check it out.

Waffles Caffe at 1510 N. First St. has been in Yakima for more than 15 years now. They're a place that knows how to do breakfast. Although everything is good, their waffles are the best I've ever had. I just had to show this place to him.

He looked over the menu and, undecided, ordered what I ordered which was the All-American Waffle. Basically, it's a waffle covered with fresh strawberries, blueberries, ice cream (making it red, white and blue) and then topped off with whipped cream.

I had to position myself facing the kitchen because I didn't want to miss his facial reaction when his order came out.

His expression was about the same as mine was when I had my first one some 15 years ago. Jaw dropped, eyes bewildered. Truly a work of art. And the waffles taste as good as they look.

As we waddled out of Waffles Caffe, I showed him the wall of fame of those who have passed the Iron Man challenge which is a very, very large breakfast. I was on that board many, many years ago. I'm not sure I could do it now, but it might be something Baby Joel and I can try sometime in the future.
