In a quest to find out who the most divalicious member of the Glee club is, the cast of 'Glee' wears outrageous costumes (which we know they love) and performs the surprisingly topical 'Diva' by Beyonce. Meanwhile, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) has turned into a monster and only Kurt (Chris Colfer) can knock the Sarah Brightman wannabee down a few pegs.

The episode opens in New York, where Kurt is angered by the antics of Rachel, whose diva attitude has reached a boiling point with her roommate. She uses up the hot water, clogs the sink and uses all the time during free sing for herself. Watching someone suggest she's the next Barbra Streisand and should audition for the 'Funny Girl' revival, Kurt decides she needs to change her attitude.

While Emma (Jayma Mays) is stressed about the wedding and the return of Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), she and Finn (Cory Monteith) discuss his worries that he won't be able to continue coaching the Glee club when his mentor returns.

In the official Glee meeting, Finn and Emma announce the week's theme: being a diva. This leads to everyone fighting over who the ultimate diva is, with Unique (Alex Newell), Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Marley (Melissa Benoist), Brittany (Heather Morris) Kitty (Becca Tobin) and Blaine (Darren Criss) performing Beyonce's 'Diva' in their collective imaginations.

Back in the city, Kurt tells Rachel that she's been full of herself since the Winter Showcase ('Swan Song'), and Rachel says he's just jealous. This leads to them arguing about who the better singer is and they decide to have a Diva-Off to crown a victor once and for all.

Meanwhile, Tina continues to hit on Blaine by making him a care package to deal with his cold. This gets him well enough to perform 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen, dressed just like Freddie Mercury.

Santana (Naya Rivera) shows up to show the club what a real diva is, by performing diva Tina Turner's 'Nutbush City Limits' with an assist from her school's cheerleading team. At the end of the song, Santana introduces her new girlfriend, revealing via flashback that Tina told her Brittany was dating Sam (Chord Overstreet).

At NYADA, Rachel's minions try to assure her that she'll win her Diva-Off with Kurt at the upcoming Midnight Madness get together, insulting Kurt in the process. Rachel seems a little hurt by their taunting, but Kurt overhears them and says he's had worse. They agree to "fight" at Midnight Madness, which is basically the art school version of fight club, but through song.

Inside McKinley, Finn tells Emma he learned Rachel is living with Brody (Dean Geyer). Emma suggests he get back in the saddle so he too can move on. In thanks for her advice, Finn helps Emma pick out a centerpiece for her wedding. When she's made her selection, he stares at her longingly.

Sam and Santana meet in the auditorium to fight over Brittany. Through song. They perform 'Make No Mistake (She's Mine)', a duet originally performed by Kim Carnes and Barbra Streisand.

In the hallway, Tina pines over Blaine before ultimately deciding she deserves to go after what she wants. It's what a diva would do after all. In the course of their conversation, Blaine invites her over to find her a song that will bring out her inner diva.

Late in the evening at Blaine's house, he has compiled a list of diva songs for Tina to choose from. She is honored and he lays down because the cold medicine he's on has made him tired. While he's falling asleep, Tina informs him that since divas are brutally honest, she's going to be honest with him. She tells him she's falling for him, but as expected he's already fallen asleep when this news is imparted. Rather than go home, she decides to massage his chest with Vicks Vapor Rub while he's sleeping and curls up next to him.

At Midnight Madness, Brody lays down the rules. Each duo will go against each other with a song randomly chosen for each pair. The challenger will go first, followed by the challenged. Winners will be chosen based on audience vote (other pairs who plan to fight later on). Rachel and Kurt each perform 'Bring Him Home' from 'Les Miserables'. By the slimmest margin ever, Kurt is chosen as the winner.

Santana visits Sue (Jane Lynch), who reveals that she's aware that Santana dropped out of school a month ago. Instead of admonishing her, she offers Santana a job to take over the Cheerios. Sue tells her the offer will be on the table for the rest of the week.

In the hallway, Tina approaches Blaine and yells at him for not being able to give her what she wants and deserves. A confused Blaine watches her sing Madonna's 'Hung Up' as she cements her status as a full-on diva.

Kurt is being followed around by Rachel's former minions who try to invite him to the 'Funny Girl' revival open casting. Not falling for their brown-nosing, Kurt calls them out on their teacher's pet behavior since he won Midnight Madness. Brushing them aside, he tries to extend an olive branch to Rachel by telling her about the casting, but she's still too hurt by his win to care.

The Diva Award is given to Tina and Blaine congratulates/apologizes to her with a chocolate flower. He tells Tina he's sorry if he's appeared ungrateful and admits she is the most important person in his life. Tina accepts his apology and agrees to be his date to Emma and Will's wedding.

Rachel is still moping when Kurt tells her he got them the last slot for the 'Funny Girl' rehearsals. Rachel admits that she doesn't want to try out because if she gets the part she will just become a bigger diva and lose her best friend. Kurt reminds her she can be a diva and leave the nightmare part out. They make up.

Emma is obsessively picking out a new centerpiece because Will said the one she and Finn picked was merely “okay”. She is in the middle of a panic attack when Finn kisses her. After realizing what he did, he awkwardly rushes out of the room.

Brittany tells Santana she has no plans to break up with Sam and that she knows Brittany paid one of the cheerleaders from earlier to pretend to her girlfriend. Brittany asks Santana to move on and she sings 'Girl on Fire' by Alicia Keys while contemplating her life. As she sings her ballad, she emerges in New York and knocks on Kurt and Rachel's apartment. When they open the door, she announces she will be moving in.
