The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention has issued a recall of chopped romaine lettuce due to an E.coli outbreak.  There have been 53 reported illnesses across the nation and 40 hospitalized.  No reported deaths.  The outbreak has reached consumers here in Washington State.

They had initially issued the recall for romaine lettuce packaged in Yuma, Arizona.  Consumer Reports is warning to not eat romaine lettuce at all... for now.

To be safe, throw it away!  A good spring mix is tasty:)

“Consumers anywhere in the United States who have store-bought chopped romaine lettuce at home, including salads and salad mixes, should not eat it and should throw it away, even if some of it was eaten and no one has gotten sick. If you do not know if the lettuce is romaine, do not eat it and throw it away” -CDC
