Most traditional families kick off the holiday season by celebrating Thanksgiving and then putting up the Christmas tree, the ornaments, and some holiday lights around the house. Meh. That's so last year! I am not a traditional mom and I need to shake things up and start some new holiday traditions for myself and my daughter, Willow. So I decided that from now on, the day after Thanksgiving will officially be "Mommy & Me Holiday Pampering Day".

On the day after Thanksgiving, I sat down on my sofa and came up with a list of things that Willow & I will start doing together to get into the holiday mood and celebrate the "most wonderful time of the year".

Here's my list:

1. Buy some real fake poinsettia plants

2. Put up the Christmas Tree and Elf On The Shelf

3. Get festive pedicures

Now before you say "What the what?" about my suggestion of festive holiday pedicures, let me just say that I had a gift certificate for a pedicure and didn't have a babysitter, so my daughter had to come along with me. (Fortunately, the nail salon we went to has a special pedicure chair, just for toddlers and little kids!) Since my daughter has never had a pedicure before (and why would she have, she's only 3), I decided to make it a new family tradition. Willow sat next to me and we got our "Mommy & Me" pedicures done at the same time! We had so much fun! What a wonderful way to start off this holiday season! (Shout out to the ladies and gents at E Nails in Chalet Mall!)
