Spoiler alert: J.K. Rowling really, really doesn't want you to ruin the secrets and surprises of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for other fans, okay? As the highly-anticipated British stage show moves into previews this week (beginning June 7), the famed author is asking early viewers to not spoil the plot of the play — which takes place 19 years after the events of the final book — for those who can't exactly apparate to London's West End.

And because Rowling can't, you know, use an Obliviate charm to wipe attendee's memories before venturing back into the muggle world, she's using another powerful tool to plead with would-be secret-sharers: YouTube.

"You've been amazing for years at keeping Harry Potter secrets so you didn't spoil the books for readers who came after," the author says in a PSA-like video message released June 6. "So I'm asking you one more time to keep the secrets and let audiences enjoy Cursed Child with all the surprises that we've built into the story. Thank you."

Later, on Twitter, Rowling addressed fans once more, writing, "This is a big week for all of us who’ve worked on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Real audiences are about to see it for the 1st time! Potter fans have always had each other's backs. Today I'm asking you to #KeepTheSecrets of #CursedChild."

The writer added that her plea for solidarity in secrecy was not "about ticket sales" as, unsurprisingly, many performances for the Harry Potter sequel are already sold out.

As for non-U.K. based Potterheads, don't worry! Rowling reiterated that the screenplay for the show will be available come July 31.
