Jamie Moyer to Throw First Pitch at Mariners Home Opener
Quick! Which Seattle Mariners pitcher leads the organization with most career wins?
"King" Felix Hernandez? Bzzzzzzz!
Future Hall-of-Famer Randy "Big Unit" Johnson? Nope.
If you guessed the crafty left-hander Jamie Moyer, you are correct!
The Pennsylvania native last season became the oldest Major League pitcher to win a game at the age of 49 and with his 145 wins in an M's uniform, he is the franchise leader.
Moyer retired from baseball after 27 seasons that spanned FOUR different decades while pitching for eight different teams. The majority of his most productive years (11) were spent with the Mariners.
The M's will welcome back one of their favorite sons when they open their 2013 home schedule on Monday, April 8th. Jamie has been named to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The first announcement came from the Seattle Mariners Facebook page on Friday:
"A fan favorite and the winningest pitcher in Seattle Mariners, Jamie Moyer will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Night, April 8."
