Sad news to report for 'American Idol' fans, as Joanne Borgella has died at the age of 32 from a year-long battle with cancer. The announcement was made on Joanne's official Facebook page today, Oct. 18.

Borgella's first claim to fame was appearing on 'Mo'Nique's Fat Chance' in 2005 where she won the title of 'Miss F.A.T.' on the show.

In 2008, Borgella was a contestant on the seventh season of 'American Idol' and made it to the list of the final 24 -- and the final 12 women -- before being eliminated in the singing competition.

After 'Idol,' Borgella would later go on to further her career as a plus-sized model and was signed to Wilhelmina Models in New York City.

Last year in October, Borgella shared with fans that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. She updated her fans on her journey through recovery on her Facebook page.

We send our thoughts to Joanne's family, friends and fans everywhere.
