Keanu is the cat.

So that’s where the title Keanu comes from (not Keanu Reeves, though I have to imagine he’s where the name for the cat comes from). In this movie from sketch comedy stars Jordan Peele (who also co-wrote the film) and Keegan-Michael Key, a missing kitty (named Keanu) goes missing, prompting the duo to venture into the world of street gangs to attempt a rescue. The cast also includes Will Forte (sporting an unusual new look), Nia Long, Method Man, Rob Huebel, and Luis Guzmán.

The movie’s directed by Peter Atencio, a longtime producer and director on Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, so fans of that amazing sketch show should definitely mark their calendars for this one. Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, a.k.a. the hugely popular comedy duo Key & Peele, star as Clarence and Rell, two cousins who live in the city but are far from streetwise. When Rell’s beloved kitten, Keanu, is catnapped, the hopelessly straight-laced pair must impersonate ruthless killers in order to infiltrate a street gang and retrieve the purloined feline. But the incredibly adorable kitten becomes so coveted that the fight over his custody creates a gang war, forcing our two unwitting heroes to take the law into their own hands.

Keanu opens in theaters on April 22. We expect a serious uptick in kittens named Keanu around that time.
