'Tis that time of year for the holiday specials to populate the TV screens. Holiday specials are so popular that even YouTube and Hulu feature them all year long. Here is KFFM's Top 5 Holiday Specials for the season - agree or disagree?

    Frosty The Snowman

The song Frosty is addictive and Jimmy Durante singing is the topping on the big 'ole snow cone. I always sniffled a little when he melted but I was eight years old and my first lesson in life was that things don't last forever!

    A Smurfs Christmas

Yes Virginia, there was a Smurfs Holiday special back in the day! The annoying theme song oozes through the ear drums until you are humming along. This special features my favorite Smurfs, Grouchy, Brainy and Smurfette. As they say, once you go blue, you don't go back!

    A Charlie Brown Christmas

The Charlie Brown tree is classic, I always root for the underdog and as Chuck deals with Snoopy, Linus and the other kids. The true spirit of Christmas comes out. There is a little known fact that Charles Shultz the creator hated jazz music and some how that theme has become essential to the Peanuts gang when you hear it.

    How The Grinch Stole Christmas

This is a classic and will be shown and featured until the end of time. Boris Karloff is great as the creepy narrator. Max the dog has the hard job, towing that sleigh up a mountainside and he didn't even get dog biscuits at the end for his effort.

    Rudolph The Red-Nose Reindeer

The original poster child, er, reindeer for bullying. This show has been shown since the 1960's and never seems to go away. It might as well be the "Gone Of The Wind" of holiday specials. You also have to give it to Hermie the elf, he's "independent" which means jobless at the north pole. The good news is everyone accepts Rudolph at the end and that is the message that every reindeer needs to hear, acceptance is a good thing and even Santa was a little guilty of being a Christmas snob.
