Kylie Jenner is in hot water for the price point of her company's latest product.

On Thursday (December 7), the Kylie Cosmetics team teased the forthcoming release of their limited-edition 16-piece luxury makeup brush set on Twitter as the most recent addition to their Silver Series. Unbeknownst to the brand, the news would spark a long-threaded controversy.

"All brushes are sold individually," the product PSA reads beneath a silvery display of assorted makeup brushes forthcoming this week, December 13, "or you can buy the limited-edition set for $360, which comes with the silver roll to store all of your brushes."

Apart from the glistening assortment of cosmetic goodies, fans couldn't help but take notice of the hefty price tag for the 20-year-old's brand-new brush line, which many considered to be nothing short of basic and offensively overpriced.

Needless to say, jaws were dropped, Twitter fingers were fast at work, and consequently, a vicious Kylie roasting was born.

"Kylie Jenner tryna sell $2 home depot paint brushes for $20," wrote rapper Lil Phag. Another user who goes by Meg dismissed the announcement entirely, writing, "Goodnight to everyone except kylie jenner and anyone who bought her $360 brushes bc that's utter Nonsense."

In an ill-planned effort to clear her name amidst the storm of criticism over the price of her Silver Series brushes, Jenner took to Twitter last night (December 9) to express her excitement, vouching that her new brushes are top of the line and worth every dime.

"I have developed for you guys the most amazing luxury brushes ever. I am very excited!" wrote the star. "Real brushes don't compare to synthetic brushes. Different performance/quality/everything."

"I always fight for the lowest price on all my products," Jenner added, in an effort to justify the cost of her brushes by comparing her set to that of more established cosmetic companies like MAC Cosmetics and Kevyn Aucoin, whose brush sets can be sold at upwards of $200.

However, Jenner's rationale only seemed to infuriate fans more, with many of them mocking her for considering her products to be in the same echelon as the brands she likens them to.

Nonetheless, Jenner said she hears her fans loud and clear and only wants the best for her followers. Whether that involves a significant price drop or sensible prices for her frugal following going forward, we'll have to wait and see.

How's about it, Kylie bots, will you be cashing out on your fave's $360 makeup brush set?
