Remember Lil Mama? She was the precocious teen who had lip gloss poppin' with her 2006 hit single, 'Lip Gloss.' Well, now the New York rapper has landed the role of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in the upcoming TLC biopic for VH1.

Lil Mama's friend MC Lyte revealed the big news to Hip Hollywood at VIBE's inaugural Impact Awards. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, but I will," she said. "She just got the role as Left Eye in TLC’s new movie. I am so excited for her."

There's no word on who will play the group's surviving members -- Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chili" Thomas -- in the movie, which is still in pre-production. We are also unsure if Lil Mama can actually pull it off. This will be the 23-year-old artist's first acting role and it's a major one for a newcomer.

The made-for-TV film will chronicle TLC's rise in the R&B game to become one of the most successful female groups of all time. Of course, Left Eye was the most vocal and sometimes volatile member in the group. Sadly, the rapper passed away in 2002, in a horrific car accident in Honduras.

MC Lyte plans to mentor Lil Mama and help guide her in the right career path. "I'm gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty and just had her chances cut too short, and that’s Lil Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady," attests Lyte.

We'll have to wait and see how Lil Mama transforms herself into Left Eye.
