David Letterman pulled zero punches when forced to interview Lindsay Lohan for 'The Late Show' last night (April 9), making the starlet visibly uncomfortable at certain points.

Thing is, Letterman's so affable that it was hard for her to stay mad at him.

Letterman began by asking Lohan about her penchant for theft, then got right into the tougher questions. And by "tougher," we don't mean the most baffling, we mean the toughest for Lohan to face and answer herself, because her favorite place in the world is a river in Egypt.

Letterman cut right to the chase: “Aren't you supposed to be in rehab now?”

“Do you not watch anything that goes on? What are you, a tabloid now?” Lohan said stiffly, adding that she has to go on May 2.

“How many times have you been in rehab?” Letterman asked.

“Several,” Lohan responded, decidedly tightlipped and peeved.

“And how will this time be different? What are they rehabbing, first of all? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” Letterman continued to a small applause break.

“We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview -- I’m just saying to everyone,” Lohan said, trying to contain her mortification. “I think this an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing and not a curse."

And it just went from there. You'll need to watch the sit-down for all the uncomfortable moments. But toward the end, Dave praised her for having "enough spine, enough sense of yourself, enough poise to come out here and talk to me."

And as always, Lindsay was frustratingly charming throughout much of the interview -- proving, as she often does, that if she'd just straighten herself out, she'd be a formidable force.

For her part, LiLo claims to have enjoyed the awkward appearance, taking to Twitter to express her appreciation:
