From Everything Is Love to Without Warning to Kids See Ghosts, the last year has produced a handful of one-off joint rap albums for the ages. A new Rolling Stone profile of Mac Miller published today (Aug. 3) suggests the possibility of the next classic partnership: Mac and Post Malone.

The Pittsburgh native floated the idea while discussing his new album Swimming and inability to resist the studio during promotional cycles. He revealed that he recently held an impromptu jam session with Post, Thundercat (with whom he's touring this fall) and producer Frank Dukes. The "Rockstar" rapper played the bongos.

"[Post and I] got together. And then Frank Dukes has worked on a bunch of my records, but we had never met, so he came through too. And then Thundercat appeared and we all started jamming,” Miller said. "It was beautiful."

Mac explained that the session arose from his discussions with Post about a joint project. It sounds like the proposal is definitely in play. The pair's last collaboration to see the light of day was their Lil Uzi Vert and Fki 1st-assisted "Camera," featured on DJ Drama's 2016 mixtape Quality Street Music 2.

Swimming, released today (Aug. 3), is Mac's fifth studio album and his first since 2016's The Divine Feminine. Post's latest full-length Beerbongs & Bentleys dropped in April.

Elsewhere in the article, Miller discusses addiction, creative risks and his breakup with Ariana Grande. You can read the full profile over at Rolling Stone's website.
