Mardi Gras Recipes for King Crab, Po’Boys and More
Maybe you’re throwing a big party, or maybe Mardi Gras is just your excuse to feast on the amazing cuisine of New Orleans -- either way, you better get it right. Break out the spices and let’s get cooking!
Cajun Spice: Chow has a great Cajun spice mix that you can make and then sprinkle on literally everything you make.
Po’ Boys: If you’re lucky enough to be in town for Mardi Gras, a New Orleans chef might walk you through the best places to buy these fish sandwiches. If not, make your own with this recipe from Serious Eats, which they claim is the best one outside of NoLa.
Jambalaya: This spicy, tomato-y, pot of deliciousness can be made with seafood, chicken, sausage, or no meat at all, but it must be made. Find recipes of all variations on AllRecipes
Hurricanes: There are a million ways to make this alcohol-laden, fruity concoction. Drink Mixer has a few recipes for you to choose from, just make sure they’re strong, and make sure they’re served in a hurricane glass!
King Cake: The most essential part of Mardi Gras dining is this sugary, O-shaped cake . If you get the piece of King Cake with the plastic baby (or other trinket) baked into it, you either have good luck or you have to buy the next King Cake, depending on who you ask. Many people order their King Cake from bakeries, but you can make your own with this recipe from the Food Network.
