Marijuana may be legal in Washington state, in small amounts, but Yakima County voted against marijuana sales within county limits.

Yakima County Commissioners voted unanimously on banning growing marijuana for recreational use as well as processing and the option of retail sales.

County Commishioner Kevin Bouchey said he was pleased with the decision that that made. He also doesn't think decision should always be based on the possibility of generating a tax revenue.

Despite its ban, Yakima would still like a share of taxes from marijuana sales from other parts of the state as pointed out here.
