Leave it to Mary J. Blige to close out a show with grace. The singer looked regal with platinum blonde 'do and a shimmery black gown as she brought down the house as the final performance at the 2015 BET Honors. The show, which aired on Monday night (Feb. 23), surrounded the theme of excellence and Mary embodied it in every way.

"Congratulations to all of the honorees tonight because you did not give up in the face of adversity. You inspire me to do the same," Mary said before singing her new single "Doubt," from her 13th studio album, The London Sessions.

Portraits representing black excellence were showcased onscreen behind her as Mary sang. Iconic photographer Gordon Parks, the first black congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and boxing champ Muhammad Ali flashed in the background while the New York native gave her all in the name of proving her naysayers wrong.

"They said I’d never be a leader / They said I’d never wear a crown / If I wanted to be someone / I should learn to settle down," she sang. Her performance captivated the crowd, while the evening's honorees Kanye West and Phylicia Rashad looked on in amazement.

Mary has been giving killer performances in 2015. Earlier this month, she delivered the moving duet "Stay With Me" with four-time Grammy Award-winner Sam Smith at the Grammy Awards.
