‘Mastodon’ is the New Social Media Network and It’s Super Confusing

I saw a newcomer to social media was trending so I thought I'd check it out. It's slated to be a 'twitter-killer'. We'll see.
It's called Mastodon and I can't figure it out at all.

After poking around with it for about half an hour I'm happy to say I can't find my way around it at all. There were various messages scrolling from people I don't know and didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind them.

I do like the fact that instead of tweets messages are called toots and instead of retweet it boost. Boost makes sense as you're helping boost someone else's status.

Will this be the social platform that eliminates Twitter? I doubt it, but it's free to download so you may give it a chance, just in case.

Watch me try to stumble through it. What am I doing wrong? Let me know.
