Team Adam’s Melanie Martinez may be the youngest contestant on ‘The Voice,’ but her age doesn’t make her any less of a contender. Tonight (Nov. 19), the 17-year-old performed ‘Seven Nation Army’ by the White Stripes, further showing off her unique style and voice that have been propelling her along all season.

“Being in the top 10 feels crazy,” she remarked, clearly stunned by the fact that she’s made it this far. But both she and her coach realized that she needed to take that extra step to blow everyone away. “You need to surprise people; the bomb needs to go off,” Levine urged during rehearsals. “Go crazy – leave it all out there.”

And okay, maybe a bomb didn’t go off during her performance, but there’s a lot to be said for a girl, a guitar and a powerful set of lungs. Decked out in a dress patterned with her own photography, Martinez had a clear vision and she went with it.

“I’m so glad to see you back playing an instrument again because I think that’s an important part of who you are,” Blake Shelton said. “If there’s one artist left in this competition I wish I could work with, it’s you.”

Christina Aguilera’s response was much less enthusiastic – but let’s be honest, she hasn’t been a huge fan of Martinez so far. “I do see yourself trying to push yourself a bit more with this one, but I still think you need to find your comfort zone with it,” she commented.

“That’s one of the coolest things that has happened this season,” Cee Lo Green praised with a smile.

Levine rounded out the judges remarks’ with his own glowing opinion, reinforcing his position as her #1 fan. “I’m so proud you stayed strong and really wanted to make this happen, because it was an amazing rendition."
