Billionaire Paul Allen, owner of the Seattle Seahawks and the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers has died, The Associated Press is reporting. His company, Vulcan Inc., made the sad announcement Monday. He was 65 and had been battling non-Hodkins lymphoma.

Allen dropped out of Washington State University to co-found Microsoft along with Bill Gates in the 1970s, eventually moving it to its current home in Redmond.

"While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend," his sister, Jody Allen, said in a statement.

No funeral plans have been announced so far.
