At its best, MTV's TRL was a lively and revealing snapshot of pop culture, so it's only right the network's revamped iteration of the show (that was originally canceled nine years ago) kicked off with a Times Square performance from Migos, the hottest rap group out. Taking the stage in front of the New York City crowd, Quavo, Offset and Takeoff performed their Quality Control compilation offering, "Too Hotty."

For their part, Migos did what they do best, which was bring the energy to the stage as they spit their rapid-fire verses over the icy cold Southside-produced instrumental. It was a pretty perfect way to bring TRL to a new generation. Now all that's left is for the group to do the same with Culture 2.

The Migos' eagerly awaited Culture follow-up doesn't yet have a release date, but the group has said it's on the way for a while now. This past summer, Offset said it'd be dropping this month. Maybe there's hope it drops soon, then.

Speaking with Beats 1 Radio's Zane Lowe in a recent interview, Offset revealed that the clique's been working on some films together—and Quavo's been scribing the script.

“I’m a ’90s baby and all my favorite movies got all my dope artists in ’em,” Quavo said, before listing the movies that have inspired Migos over the years. “Juice, Menace II Society, All the Snoop Dogg movies, Master P movies, I Got the Hook-Up, Baller Blockin’ the Big Tymers movie. That’s what we’re doing right now; we’re looking into the script.”

We have no clue when Migos might drop a movie, but it could be pretty epic when/if they do. For now, check out their performance on the TRL reboot below.
