Since Miley Cyrus couldn't be at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards last night (May 1), her dad Billy Ray has spoken out on her behalf. Before accepting the award for Best Lyrics (Miley won for her hit, 'Wrecking Ball') the 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer revealed how his daughter was doing after the health scare that landed her in the hospital and forced her to postpone several Bangerz Tour dates.

"She's doing much better, thank you for asking," Cyrus told E!'s Giuliana Rancic. "All the shows that were postponed are now rescheduled," he explained, noting that Miley will soon be headed out to London to resume the tour.

He also clarified that Miley's illness was due to a severe reaction from antibiotics -- despite other stories to the contrary.

"That's exactly what it was," he explained. "I think it started like a strep throat … and there was something like an antibiotic of some type that just had a reaction… it was pretty scary."

Scary, indeed. When the E! host (a parent herself) commented that he must have been pretty scared during the ordeal, Billy Ray didn't hold back.

"Oh, extremely," he revealed. "She just needed to take the time to heal up after your body is having that type of reaction. You just gotta call time out and get well and she's done that."

We're so glad to hear that Miley is feeling better. And after winning the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best Lyrics for 'Wrecking Ball' last night, her father (who accepted the award on her behalf) had just one group of people to thank -- Miley's beloved Smilers.

“I can’t begin to tell you how much your thoughts, your love, and your support for my family and Miley mean to all of us," he said in a heartfelt speech (quote via HollywoodLife.) "Thank you, and God bless each and every one of you.”
