I did not go to my high school prom, but I did get asked to attend a listener's prom at Naches High School. The theme was "Viva Las Vegas," and we had a blast.

I didn't have to worry about submitting a picture to get my dress approved beforehand, which is what many girls attending Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, Pa., are required to do. Principal Dr. Maureen Thiec says that "school administrators (have to) defend the policy, saying the school has a responsibility to uphold Catholic values and moral integrity." (Source: KIROTV.com, WPXI.com)

I think it's sexist to insist that prom gowns be pre-approved -- school administrators couldn't give two flips about what the boys are wearing.

"The only change this year is the requirement of young women to submit photos for review by prom moderators." - Delone Catholic High School

Translation: "We can't have these girls showing off their legs and shoulders all free nilly! The boys will just go CRAZY!"

How about parents start teaching young men to keep their horniness in check and maintain integrity and respect for other people's bodies, while allowing girls to wear dresses in appropriate lengths? Is that too much to ask?

So what do you think? Am I being too up in arms about this, or is this a legitimate case of sexism? YOU DECIDE.

Maybe Delone Catholic High School should upgrade to a computerized program to mix and match all the girls dresses until they are deemed "appropriate"? LMAO
