Nick Carter got emotional while talking about family with a contestant on his new talent competition Boy Band on Thursday (July 20)

After singer Jaden Gray opened up about his complicated relationship with his father, Nick admitted he could relate to the theme of family trauma.

"I understand exactly what you're going through when it comes to having a hard upbringing in a family," Nick, who has had a volatile relationship with his younger brother Aaron, shared.

"No matter what happens, or what they say or do, you still love them," he added, tearing up.

The emotional moment came just days following Aaron's arrest in Georgia, in which the singer was arrested under suspicion of DUI and drug possession the same he night was supposed to perform in Kansas.

After news broke of the arrest, Nick reached out to Aaron on Twitter, writing, "To my brother: I love you no matter what and if you feel the need to reach out for help, I am here and willing to help you get better."

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight days later, Aaron hit back at Nick, saying that his "brother gave up" on him.

"I don't need Nick's help. I don't need that," he said. "What I need is people to understand that I'm human and I make mistakes just like every other human in this world."
