Phillip Phillips Family to Sell Pawn Shop in Wake of ‘Idol’ Win

Phillip Phillips is the hottest thing in pop music right now, having won the ‘American Idol‘ Season 11 crown on Wednesday night (May 23). The first thing he did when he broke down and stopped singing his coronation song ‘Home?’ He walked into the crowd to hug his family.

Turns out the Phillips family is making a bigger change to their dynamic by selling the family business, which is a pawn shop.

TMZ reports that Phillips’ dad Donnie has wanted to unload the Albany, Ga. shop for some time now, but once his son notched the big win, it helped push him to finalize the decision. His son is indeed staring down some serious cash in terms of his career, so perhaps Dad wants to manage his son or work with him on the level.

It’s not like Papa Phillips want to cash on his son’s new success. He reportedly wanted to ditch the business for a while. Whatever the case, congrats once again to Phillip Phillips.
