Poutine is a magical food. In fact, it's something you may have made at home without even knowing what it was called. Proper poutine is fries or potato wedges, cheese curds and brown sauce-type gravy on top. It's finding its way on more and more menus in restaurants, but hasn't found its way to Yakima, yet. There is a place that makes a decent substitute, though.

KFC

Think about it. They have potato wedges. They have cheese. They have the best brown gravy in the business. Just ask them to layer it all together. I did and, after she had to speak to the manager, she happily obliged.

Even though it wasn't cheese curds, the finished product was totally decent! Not a bad substitute until I can talk a local bar or pub into getting this on the menu.
