As expected, Prince is at the top of the Billboard charts, although sadly posthumously. The late soul icon's greatest hits collection, The Very Best Of, and his classic 1984 album, Purple Rain, are holding down the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, on the Billboard 200 chart.

Additionally, Prince's The Hits/The B-Sides, which debuted in 1993, also re-entered the charts at No.6, giving Prince three top-10 albums this week.

Prince is the first act to hold the No. 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard 200 tally simultaneously in more than 10 years, and The Very Best of Prince is also the first greatest hits compilation to reach No. 1 since Notorious B.I.G.'s Greatest Hits topped the chart in 2007.

The Very Best of Prince marks Prince's fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and his first since 3121 spent one week at No. 1 in 2006. Not only were fans clamoring to get their hands on his music given his immense popularity and influence, but Billboard projects the sales can also be partly contributed to the general lack of availability of Prince's music on streaming services and YouTube.

The Very Best of Prince earned 179,000 equivalent album copies last week while Purple Rain sold 69,000 units. The Hits/The B-Sides sold 41,000 copies.

Overall, since his death, there are eight Prince albums on the Billboard 200, including 1999 (No. 31), Ultimate (No. 61), Sign 'O' the Times (No. 95), HiTnRun: Phase One (No. 147) and Prince(No. 160).
