With hip-hop only in its Mid-40s, our genre hasn’t too many grandfathers come along. At the present time, it seems as though the culture is experiencing the first round of grandpas as some of our elder statesmen have recently crossed the threshold from father to grandpop. The first grands have popped up sporadically over the years, with Ice-T having a 21-year-old grandson, but it seems like more and more rappers are having grandchildren now too.

Snoop Dogg became a grandpa last January. At the age of 43, the Dogg Father morphed into the Grand Dogg as his eldest son, Corde (Spank), welcomed a son named Zion.  The rap veteran announced the news via Instagram.. “Proud grandad. My son spank n grandson Zion !! Jah bless,” wrote Snoop on his profile underneath a video of Spank, 21, holding the new heir. “Zion. U have a lot of love WAitn on u grandson!!,” gushed Snoop in an additional post along with a collage of their growing family.

Bun B‘s granddaughter has become a favorite among hip-hop heads. Drake attended little Taylor’s graduation party a few years back and the photos of the two went viral. Rev Run has two grandchildren, by daughter Vanessa and son JoJo. Not to mention his daughter Angela has one on the way and is currently pregnant. Flavor Flav and Chuck D also have multiple grandkids of their own.

Check out all the hip-hop granddads in the list below.
