Actor Ricardo Medina Jr. has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter after stabbing his roommate to death with a sword, the L.A. Times reported on Thursday (March 16).

38-year-old Medina admitted that he killed Josh Sutter after the two had a dispute at a Green Valley home they shared in January 2015, the L.A. County district attorney’s office said in a statement. Medina faces up to six years in state prison.

The actor, who starred in several iterations of the Power Rangers franchise, chiefly Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Wild Force, was originally arrested for the murder on January 31, 2015, but then released without being charged amid his claims that he acted in self defense. Medina was arrested again and charged with first-degree murder in January 2016.

According to the Times, law enforcement officials believe Medina and Sutter’s fatal argument began over an argument over the way Medina’s girlfriend had parked her car. Medina allegedly grabbed a sword he kept near the door of his bedroom and then stabbed Sutter when he forced his way into Medina’s bedroom. Medina stabbed Sutter several times before he called 911.

Medina’s original first-degree murder charge was reduced to voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal.

Outside of the Power Rangers series, Medina had just a few small guest roles on E.R. and C.S.I. Miami. In 2005 he appeared as himself on a VH1 reality show called Kept, on which men vied for the privilege of being former model and Mick Jagger ex Jerry Hall’s “kept” man.
